Plans to shake up the UK's ATM network may leave many remote areas with no access to cash, the consumer group Which? has warned.

Link, which manage the network, say there are too many cash machines in places where they're not needed.

Which? said it could lead to "mass closures" of free to use machines.

According to the consumer group, more than 200 communities in the UK already have poor ATM provision, or no cash machine at all.

They said 123 postcode districts did not contain a single ATM, making consumers reliant on access in nearby villages or towns.

Gareth Shaw of Which? said: "Link's proposals could place a strain on communities across the UK that are already struggling to access the cash they need following mass [High Street] bank closures. The financial regulator must intervene to avoid this situation getting worse."

He said those hit hardest would not be busy high streets, but ATMs in rural communities.

Time is running out on Brexit, and the UK should remain in a customs union with the EU, the CBI has warned.

Carolyn Fairbairn, head of the UK business group, said on ITV's Peston on Sunday, that a customs union would be best for UK economic growth and prosperity.

Good news as South Korea is banning the use of anonymous bank accounts to make cryptocurrency transactions.

The move is aimed at stopping virtual currencies being used for crimes such as money laundering.

Holders of anonymous cryptocurrency wallets must now link them to bank accounts in their own name, and have their identities confirmed.

The requirements are similar to the Know Your Customer anti-crime regulations in the US.

Most high street retail banks fix their rates every day.

If Fidors policy is to set it for 3 weeks at a time then that is their commercial decision. Who am I to argue ;-)

Perhaps it is a bug, perhaps not. Fidor are looking into this.

"Exchange rates for such currencies are likely to change almost constantly" - hanks for highlighting my point about the Fidor rate remaining fixed for weeks.

Previous post not quite accurate for this discussion:

"If a currency is free-floating, its exchange rate is allowed to vary against that of other currencies and is determined by the market forces of supply and demand. Exchange rates for such currencies are likely to change almost constantly as quoted on financial markets, mainly by banks, around the world."

Revoult don't control the Forex market, much as I'm sure they would like to lol. Although this would be highly illegal.

"The interbank rate is the rate of interest charged on short-term loans between banks. Banks borrow and lend money in the interbank lending market in order to manage liquidity and satisfy regulations such as reserve requirements."

When the Dow Jones hits 34,000 its game over. Be prepared to cash in quick, quick your stocks, shares and funds (except gold).

Market armageddon is nearly upon us ;-)

(I hope I am wrong).

For me I use Revoult, as they use the Interbank rate (or close enough when you factor in the £70/year fee).

..and of course free SEPA transfers so I save on the £2.49/transaction.

It is for Fidor, as they usually are pretty close to the market and the reason I use them rather than another service. I know you like to poke the bear, but arguing that this is anything other than a bug is pointless. Show me a single bank that uses the same exchange rate for 3 weeks.

Remember this is the interbank rate. Fidor are a business, not a charity, they have OH&P on top of this and 1.1263 seems fair and reasonable to me.
