I suggest (and I am sure you have thought of it)
1) offering a bitcoin wallet
2) linking with bitocin.de (as you do in Germany)
3) providing a EURO and GBP bitcoin debit card.
C'mon guys!

BT tell me "Sorry, the website bitocin.de cannot be found"

JoelDalais wrote on 01.03.2017 at 16:00

1) Sadly won't happen.
2) I don't see why not, but again not very likely to happen.
3) See no 1.

Sorry typo. Should be bitcoin.de

show payment reference on incoming payments

To show the reference on an incoming transfer, i.e. I sent a payment from my tesco account, but the payment reference wasn't transmitted to fidor. what is great is the sort and account number are transmitted, so in the case of needing to refund payments, this is made very easy for someone receiving an incorrect payment, but payment references are also very important, especially if the account is to be used for crypto trading

TWO FACTOR AUTHENTICATION A MUST!

Hi, just joined and was pleasantly surprised to find an efficient and well thought out ID verification method. A two factor authentication mechanism though would greatly enhance the security of your site, and of course would add a further security to all users data. Authentication apps such as Google Authenticator are very popular on most peoples phones, as a potential suggestion.

JoelDalais wrote on 01.03.2017 at 00:13

I've strongly suggested it over a year ago, a fair few times for a period of some months. I think we'd all be lucky (and happy) if it happened, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

Transaction export

I have used the same financial management product for years so I would be loathed to change it. This makes a decent export format, like OXF, vital. Fidor offers a CSV file but this doesn't work out of the box. The reason for this is that it isn't a CSV file!

Comma Separated Variables need to be just that. Each "column" of data needs to be delimited by a comma! I examined the Fidor file in a text editor and the fields are separated by a semi-colon!! To make things worse there are commas within the textual data that can only trip up the importing application. How was this allowed to happen?? The Fidor CSV file will NEVER work until it is S for Separated by C for Commas.....

In Germany (where ATM network costs are higher than the UK) your competitor N26 have a tarriff where first 3 ATM withdrawals are free but if you have your salary credited to your account you get 5 free withdrawals a month. Could Fidor UK reconsider their current charges to allow 1 free withdrawal per week?

Flat rate for unlimited SEPA Payments

I make a lot of SEPA payments from my account and the low fee is one of the reasons I chose Fidor. However, one transfer a day on average still costs 75GBP a month, which is the same as paying for a private account in the UK. A flat monthly rate for unlimited SEPa transfers would be very welcome.

JoelDalais wrote on 04.02.2017 at 18:45

A good idea, I'm sure others would also find this useful.

MIROW wrote on 04.02.2017 at 19:03

Good idea. With Handelsbanken charging 20p per SEPA transfer I am sure it must be possible for Fidor UK to bring the cost down a bit even if they can't match that.

Old and irrelevant posts

I would like the opportunity to delete old and irrelevant posts that I have made. Future posts are often developments of prior posts, and it doesn't make sense to keep the old posts. Not being able to do this brings the hazard of future posts being regarded as spam (the same thing), when it's not, it's a development on a prior post. This facility would especially make sense when there has been no comment, thumbs up/down, or tip against the said posts. I would like this facility, and I think it would be positive for the site as a whole. Thanks.

MIROW wrote on 30.01.2017 at 19:13

For me the more important change would be the ability to edit any posts you make so you can update facts and correct typos

Let's abolish Manual Accountancy for SMEs

in the category Service

I suggested this to Matthew Bullock Barclay's PLC former head of Corporate Banking some 30 years ago...

Perhaps it's an idea that is READY to be implemented...

(especially since self-employed are required by law to produce 'accounts' and so much business now is increasingly ‘cashless))

This might save high street banking ! – and certainly put FIDOR out there in front !

The Idea is simple...

A freelance worker or business owner simply endeavors to makes ALL their 'business transactions' via FIDOR ... (increasingly possible in the cashless society)

Starting with a few basic ones and a pilot system of volunteers, Fidor develops increasingly sophisticated Artificial Intelligence Algorithms to AUTOMATICALLY ANALYZE expenditure, sort into accounting categories, revenue and capital, calculate VAT, tax differentials, weekly, monthly and annual REPORTS (and in future offers online formal purchase ordering and invoicing, flag up financial projections and complex allowances and rebates such as Tax Credits.. vetting dodgy customers and suppliers..)..

Fidor becomes an automated "book-keeping service"..

What percentage of business expense is cash today ? .. I would say for most it is cashless… Even if the FIDOR system covered only 80% of turnover .. It would be an indispensable aid in sole-traders, freelancers and small businesses producing MANDATORY annual returns.

As an essentially server based AUTOMATED service (like Facebook, PayPal or eBay) , the PROFITABILITY could be excellent … and average of over £1Bn per year of recurrent Fidor service income from each half million customers would be quite realistic today…
